CLOUDS ALL OVER
but suddenly this lava rock called Rouque Agando was in front of us, when we driving home through the fog - just before sunset in December 2010.

STUCK IN THE PRIMEVAL FOREST FOR TWO DAYS WITHOUT FOOD AND WATER!
That happened about two years ago and at the end of the second day I were rescued by a helicopter, so every once in a while when a helicopter passes by my home I get very sentimental. It was of course a great feeling to be wired up from the primeval forest to the helicopter and be taken to the hospital. But this part of the experience is not what makes me sentimental. Lemme start with the weeks before this event:

I was living in my favorite spot on La Gomera at the end of a blind street in a village a the mountain side just before e steep cliff with a 20 meter long terrace full of flowers and cats and a terrific view to the Atlantic Ocean. It was the dream of my dreams but still I were not satisfied, sometimes I got annoyed by the neighbor talking in telephone or by the geckos crawling down the wall in the night or other things that I can´t remember anymore. All very small and unimportant details that in my mind grew out of proportion and seemed to be able to disturb the paradise I was living in. No matter how perfect everything was in this dream place of mine still I found reasons not to enjoy it fully before something had been corrected.

Now let´s jump to the primeval forest, where I somehow had gotten on a track that just ended in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes the tracks seems to disappear for a while so I continue in the belief it would appear again. It did not appear again, but everything was so beautiful and quite so I did not feel like going back. I found a dried out river and thought, everybody knows where a river end goes: in the sea – and I was in fact heading towards a village at the sea.

So far so good. Still happy going. But the more I came down the mountain by following the dried out river the heavier the plantation got and soon I had to make tunnels through almost impenetrable bushes full of thorns and sometimes it took 15 minutes to go 5 meters. Every time I had passed through some of those bushes I came out into a more open area. It was like coming from the dark into paradise, so green and lush and like I were the first one ever there – and so silent .

I could have been so happy there and part of me just wanted to stop and enjoy – but another part was angry, I had gotten more and more bloody from the thorns and were furious about all the trouble I had to get through, so I denied myself the joy of the beauty around me until I were certain about getting out. This happened again and again every time I had passed some difficult bushes to come out into a new piece of paradise. After hours of this I was so absorb by my feelings of seemingly righteous indignation about my deadlocked situation. I did not sense anything else than this anger and desperation and suddenly I was just fed up of this indignation. It was enough. And without any thought about anything I just looked around and enjoyed the sight, the smell and the sounds coming into me, from this beautiful place. even enjoyed the intense feeling of my scratched and bloody body in the middle of it all. Nothing could stop me from feeling the thrill of life. Not even the second day, when two rescue teams gave up coming through the very impenetrable forest to me – they said no human could go there – and it looked like I were gonna die of dehydration.

Donno exactly when but suddenly these words passed my mind: Every moment is the perfect moment, nothing´s wrong or missing!

This state of mind is what is enhanced when I see the helicopter pass my windows and I´m so grateful to those 5 guys in the helicopter and everything else in the world for making my life so complete :)

PS: I had a camera in my back when the helicopter came for me, but unfortunately I was too dizzy – got a heart attack there due to exhaustion and dehydration – to care for shooting pics, so this one I shot the other day from my terrace. On the hospital on a bigger island I found out that they had filmed the rescue action, cause all the staff new me from telly as the hero, who survived the primeval forest on La Gomera.
